You Can't Call Them An Underdog Anymore: Ashwin Ahead of India vs Bangladesh Test Series
Kolkata, India - The Indian team is all set to take on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series starting on December 14 in Chattogram.
Ahead of the series, star Indian off-spinner R Ashwin has said that Bangladesh can no longer be called an underdog.
Ashwin said, " You can't call them an underdog anymore. They have been playing some really good cricket in the last few years. They have a good bowling attack and a solid batting lineup."
Ashwin also pointed out that Bangladesh's recent performances against some of the top teams in the world has been impressive.
He said, " They beat Australia in a Test match last year and they drew a series against New Zealand. They also gave a tough fight to India in the last Test series. So, we definitely can't take them lightly."
Bangladesh has indeed made significant strides in Test cricket in recent years. They have won their last four Test series at home, against Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe, and Afghanistan.
They also drew a two-match Test series against New Zealand in 2022, and beat Australia by an innings and 80 runs at home in 2021.
In the last Test series against India, Bangladesh lost the first Test by an innings and 130 runs but fought back to draw the second Test.
The upcoming Test series against India will be a big challenge for Bangladesh, but they will be confident of giving a good account of themselves.
