Manila, Philippines Braces for Potential Tropical Depression
Low-Pressure Area Looms, Threatening Rain and Wind
Issued at 400 PM 04 August 2024
At 300 PM today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) estimated a Low-Pressure Area (LPA) based on all available meteorological data. The LPA is currently located approximately 1,000 kilometers east of Visayas and is expected to move west-northwest in the next 24 hours.
If the LPA continues to develop and organize, it could strengthen into a tropical depression by tomorrow. If the system intensifies further, it will be named "Auring," the first named tropical cyclone of the 2024 Philippine tropical cyclone season.
As the LPA approaches, residents in areas under Public Storm Warning Signal No. 1 and No. 2 are advised to take necessary precautions and monitor weather updates regularly. Heavy rains, strong winds, and storm surges could impact these areas in the coming days.
PAGASA will continue to closely monitor the LPA and provide updates as necessary. Residents are urged to stay informed and heed the advisories and warnings issued by local authorities.
