Netherlands' unbeaten run against Poland extends to 12 games
Oranje dominate to earn second successive Group A win
Poland yet to find their feet at EURO 2024
Netherlands extended their unbeaten run against Poland to 12 games with a comfortable 2-1 victory in their UEFA EURO 2024 Group A clash on Wednesday.
The Dutch took the lead through Cody Gakpo in the first half and doubled their advantage through Steven Bergwijn after the break. Poland pulled a goal back late on through Robert Lewandowski, but it was not enough to prevent them from slipping to their second defeat of the tournament.
The result leaves Poland bottom of Group A with zero points from their two games. Netherlands, meanwhile, are top of the group with six points from two games.
Poland have now failed to win any of their last 12 meetings with Netherlands in all competitions, dating back to a 2-0 home win in EURO 1980.
The two teams will meet again in the final group game on Sunday. Poland need to beat Netherlands to have any chance of reaching the knockout stages, while a draw would be enough for Netherlands to secure top spot in the group.
