Atlanta Braves Win 2021 World Series
Braves Defeat Astros 7-0 in Game 6, Claim First Title Since 1995
The Atlanta Braves have won the 2021 World Series, defeating the Houston Astros 4-2 in the Fall Classic.
The Braves secured the title with a dominant 7-0 victory in Game 6 at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday night. It was the team's first World Series championship since 1995.
Jorge Soler led the way for the Braves in Game 6, hitting a two-run home run in the first inning to give Atlanta an early lead. The Braves added to their advantage with a sacrifice fly from Eddie Rosario in the third and a solo home run from Freddie Freeman in the fourth.
Meanwhile, the Astros were unable to generate much offense against Braves starting pitcher Max Fried. Fried allowed just four hits and one walk over 6 2/3 innings, striking out six batters. The Braves bullpen then closed out the game, with Will Smith, Luke Jackson, and Tyler Matzek combining for 2 1/3 innings of one-hit relief.
The Braves' victory marks the end of a remarkable season for the team, which had a Major League-best 88-73 record in the regular season. Atlanta then defeated the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series and National League Championship Series, respectively, to reach the World Series.
The Astros, meanwhile, finished the regular season with a 95-67 record, but they lost to the Boston Red Sox in the American League Division Series before defeating the Chicago White Sox in the American League Championship Series.
